Wicked 10k in pictures
So I randomly (ok so maybe not so randomly) since a coworker found this race for me 2 years ago.. decided to do a 10k run in VA beach during Halloween weekend. Well, not knowing about Sandy was a godsend because I would have never signed up had I known about Sandy... but because I didnt realize Sandy was coming, I signed up and what a fun, and windy weekend it was.

Cupcake Friday
Apple Pie cupcake. Looks like an apple pie... yep taste like an apple pie -- well sorta. I mean it is a cupcake after all so it does taste more like an apple cake with a crumb topping.

Cupcake Friday - Flying Monkey Edition
Some of you know that I was in Philly a weekend ago? I picked up some cupcakes while i was there and finally (ok its been about a week) had time to eat them whilest watching football on TV.
My thoughts on the 2 cupcakes that are going to be shown are about the same -- meh! Great name for a little shop in the Reading Terminal but their whoopie pies are way better than these so go for the whoopie pies instead!

Spiced cupcake
Hard Apple Cider
or maybe I got the 2 mixed up. The problem here is the cupcake was so lightly fragranced that I couldn't distinguish which one was the spiced cake and which one was the cider cake. In fact, the boy and I both couldnt figure it out-- we think that the cake in both cases were the same and that the spiced/hard cider flavor was in the icing alone.

Cupcake Friday 10.12.2012 - Pumpkin
What is this deliciousness? Well the boy likes pumpkin everything -- so this was definitely a good cupcake to get. The cupcake is a pumpkin cupcake with a cream cheese frosting -- we know how much cream cheese frosting makes everything better right? This frosting just brings the cupcake to a new height :) The cupcake is nicely reminiscent of pumpkin pie, or zucchini bread (mostly because of the spices put in, i guess?) in fragrance and flavor and the cream cheese frosting was yummy as always.
Just a word of caution though, the sprinkles on top make for a very messy look if you leave the cupcakes out and get them knocked about before you eat them. I dont have any post war pictures but trust me.. it did not look pretty -- was still yummy to eat though

Cupcake Friday - French Toast with Bacon!
How can one make the French Toast Cupcake from IcedGems better? Add a Maple Syrup glazed piece of bacon on the cupcake of course! And that is just what they did. This cupcake is reminiscent of french toast.... sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. And to make it better and have the breakfast feel? They added a piece of Maple Glazed bacon as the topper. The truck does not always have this on there, but when it does look out. This is a favorite. In fact we had a dozen of these at the wedding and they were gone in no time flat!
