Cupcake Friday 04.26.2013

Happy Friday everyone!

I've taken the day off work to go down to Georgetown in DC (with of course a Georgetown cupcake stop) to pick up my packet for the Nike 1/2 marathon that is happening this weekend.  But never fear, I have a cupcake of the week for you (procured on Tuesday of the week in anticipation)

This here is a strawberry lemonade cupcake -- lemon cupcake with a strawberry butter cream.  So effing yummy, not as good as the turtle cheesecake but then what is?

Olympic Themed Cupcake Friday 08.17.2012

Iced Gems decided that during the Olympics they were going to have themed cupcakes.  This is the 2nd one from their British/Olympics Themed cupcakes that I tried.  Britiana Cupcake - raspberry + peach cake, with raspberry butter cream.  The cupcake was more raspberry flavored than peach -- but maybe this was just my cupcake, but I felt that there was almost no peach flavor until you bit into a peach piece.  Otherwise, the cupcake was very good -- mostly the raspberry flavor stood out since there was raspberry in the cupcake and in the icing. 

 

Cupcake Friday 08.10.2012 - Phelps Cupcake

Iced Gems baking is celebrating the Olympics with some fun themed cupcakes.  This is the phelps cupcake which is a chocolate chip cupcake with some caramel inside and a vanilla frosting.  In addition, there is a chocolate coin and flag topper.  This was a very enjoyable cupcake to eat -- while i wished the chocolate topper consists of a dark chocolate disc, I was happy with the cupcake itself.

Blueberry Chocolate Chip cupcake.  Blueberry flavored cupcake with chocolate chips with a blueberry butter cream frosting with a chocolate disc and black raspberry topper.

This cupcake was pretty good.  There wasnt enough blueberries for me, but i love blueberries so i would consider something that has an overabundance of blueberries an appropriate amount of blueberries -- so this was probably just right for most people.  There was also a lot of chocolate chips in the cupcake -- weird since the flavors you would think wouldn't mesh, but this does work.  I split the cupcake with the boy and he said it wasnt his favorite (he likes peanut butter and chocolate and more chocolate) but it was pretty good.

Peppermint Lemonade - lemon cupcake with lemon curd filling and a lemon butter cream frosting with a peppermint stick.  I didnt taste much of the peppermint in the cupcake, just the peppermint stick.. so i'm not entirely sure that there really is any peppermint flavor in it.  Nonetheless, yummy

Lunch from a food truck you say?

There's a new food truck in town called Noodlerolla.  The prices are appropriate, rolls start at $5, the burrito which you can see in the right 2 pictures was like 7?  The Sushi/Sashimi bento box was close to 13$.
