Namiki Falcon with SF nib.. I swear i didnt steal anyone's pen... *cough* I've been wanting one of these for a while, and when I went to Goulet Pens and didnt see the ink that i wanted since it was LE and also sold out, checked out their bottom shelf and saw this... and immediately pounced. I've just inked it up with Caran d'Ache's Blue sky ink and its gorgeous.. Since i'm using it currently for work and havent had time to play with it -- not entirely sure how well it writes but it does write rather wetly.

Retro 51 Fahrney's exclusive Cherry Blossom Fountain Pen
Back in April, i decided I wanted this pen. Saw it in the Fahrney's catalog.. I resisted until May, obviously it was a futile effort as obviously it is sitting at home. I've had a very busy 2 months and thus I have just finally opened it (ok well I lie-- i opened it to look at it when it showed up..but didnt bother inking it).
I finally broke down, inked it and then promptly put it away --- now that i've found this post sitting in my drafts box it has prompted me to take the pen out for another test run.
The pen is lovely -- it came packaged in the standard Retro1951 tube. The orange and blue tube opened up into a felted pen carrier in which this lovely pen lay. I like fine point pens, so I went with a F nibbed pen, but I believe you can get the pen at a variety of nibs from Fahrney's. I admit -- I didnt buy this pen because I thought it would write a great line without skipping (it really does do this though), I got the pen for purely aesthetic reasons -- it's pretty! Look at the sakura blossoms, look at how the branch lies...
The cap twists off and posts firmly on the back of the pen -- I dont feel and funny weight issues for me. Without the cap posted, the pen may be a bit light.. but with the cap posted it feels fine.
I did not rinse out the nib/pen, just pulled the pen out of the case, popped the cartridge that was included with the pen into the pen, and off i went. It writes rather well -- lays a wet line. The line is thicker than my Pilot VP but then, what German nib doesnt write thicker than a Japanese nib? The nib is made of 2 toned stainless steel.

I have not yet attempted to use a converter with this pen, but Fahrney's website does say that it is cartridge fill only.

Zebra Airfit Gel Giveaway winner

mini Pilot Hi-Tec-C Review
After winning Gourmet Pens' Pelle journal giveaway recently, she kindly enclosed some additional gifts, 2 Pilot Hi-Tec-C's (in mauve and turquoise). I had received them while i was busy trying to get last minute details for the wedding ready and did not have time to play with the pens-- well i also sorta accidentally misplaced them in a purse pocket...
They did go on the cruise with me and I am glad to say they came back with me from the cruise. The 2 pens i received were both 0.3mm points and I love my uber fine tipped pens so this was a very appropriate sized tip for me to enjoy. After writing with them for a bit, I am happy to report that they rank among some of my favorite gel tipped pens. They are smooth writers, very vibrant colors are available and have almost no skipping. With such fine tipped pens usually with the rollerball in these pens have skipping issues once in a while, but they have pretty consistent lines when you write with them. I did have a bit of skipping with the mauve pen (though I couldn't always replicate it) i tried a bunch of different things, I guess the roller ball just got stuck. Other than that they were both very lovely to use-- great colors, very thin points which i ecstatically love :) to the point where for a goodbye gift for one of the Clinical Fellows that i've worked closely with, i purchased 2 purple Hi-tec-C's in 0.4mm to give to her.
