As much as i like the Black line from the Uniball Vision Elite (this one is purple black) i find that the line typically is too fat for my liking.. so as much as i Love the colors, I dont find picking up this pen is in my daily routine (however, I do pick it up to do work at work because it is just dark enough that it looks black so I dont get major complaints about using blue/black ink)

Cupcake Friday - 12.07.2012
Santa's Bumpy Sleighride is back! Chocolate cake w/ white, chocolate, and peanut butter chips, and marshmallows baked within, topped off with some mallow buttercream and a clumsy Santa!
oops my Santa got killed.. but the red fondant is Santa's butt because Santa fell off his sleigh.
My impressions: While I hate peanut butter, the peanut butter chips in this cupcake was way better than the peanut butter chocolate chip cupcakes -- I love the cute whimsical nod to Christmas, and to boot it was a pretty good chocolate cupcake with subdued peanut butter flavors.. yum!

So i've been absent for a few days.. off of twitter, blogger, etc. Its been a hectic week -- mostly because we started nasal challenges at work... and this is the aftermath.. I'm trying to copy forms over and fill out all the blanks with appropriate #s and values today and half of yesterday.. *sighs*!

Cupcake Friday 11.9.2012 - Blueberry Lemon
Blueberry lemon cupcake -- The 2 flavors together dont sound good, right? But how many times have you made a muffin (ok if you bake that is) and added a bit of lemon zest, or some citrus zest into a berry flavored muffin? So, yep the cupcake was yummy -- i think the icing was a bit too much (but if you like lemon flavored buttercream you should be good here)

Cape May visit - Post Sandy
So Cape May is one of the boy's favorite spots to go since he was a child, so when Hurricane Sandy was barreling down the Northeast and we heard that it was potentially going to affect the Jersey Shore, he got very concerned. Apparently he likes to storm track anyway and the fact that Sandy may impact the beach he loves so dearly made it even more imperative to storm track -- who knew?!
Fortunately Sandy's impact on Cape May was pretty minimal -- yes they did get storm surges, yes people had flooding, yes the dunes got shifted -- but it's apparently nothing like the places further up north (Manhattan, Hoboken, etc) Here are some pictures from the weekend's trip... note I am as tall (if not taller than some of the street signs, lamp posts..)
There were some pluses -- Sandy hit at Atlantic City (or close to it) so Cape May was on the Southern end of the storm -- yes they had high storm surges, but not to the extent that some of the other places were -- lots of places got far worse damage. When we first got there we were like oh this isnt horrible, there arent very many problems (now we went to the more commercialized areas, not the houses, etc that wouldnt be near Washington Square Mall, or the beach, because people dont like it really if you are wandering around their yards and taking pictures of their houses, really..for some strange reason they think its creepy.
oh and yes it was breezy... and cold.

Bermuda...
So this post is a bit late, but sometime in the middle of the summer I found a cruise deal that was too good to pass up. It was for a 6 night cruise from where I live to Bermuda, where it would dock at King's Wharf for approximately 1.5 days. (We sort of got in Sun Afternoon, and left Tues at noon).
For some reason I like to think that Bermuda is ohh i dont know somewhere in the Caribbean, but no, indeed it is closer to the Southern US states (Like NC, SC) in Latitude than the Caribbean. The ship that we sailed on was a Royal Caribbean ship called Enchantment of the Seas. The boy and I've been on this ship several times but it was my parent's first cruise. So we did some of the silly stuff with them like walk around the ship, walked through the main areas for them to gawk at the pictures the stores etc. But we also split up while we were on the island-- they went ahead and went to Hamilton, and went to St. George and walked through the World Heritage Site... The boy and I were planning on doing that but just had too much fun snorkeling at Tobacco Bay beach and then Horseshoe Bay beach instead.
Here are some photos from that trip...

Wicked 10k in pictures
So I randomly (ok so maybe not so randomly) since a coworker found this race for me 2 years ago.. decided to do a 10k run in VA beach during Halloween weekend. Well, not knowing about Sandy was a godsend because I would have never signed up had I known about Sandy... but because I didnt realize Sandy was coming, I signed up and what a fun, and windy weekend it was.

Cupcake Friday - Flying Monkey Edition
Some of you know that I was in Philly a weekend ago? I picked up some cupcakes while i was there and finally (ok its been about a week) had time to eat them whilest watching football on TV.
My thoughts on the 2 cupcakes that are going to be shown are about the same -- meh! Great name for a little shop in the Reading Terminal but their whoopie pies are way better than these so go for the whoopie pies instead!

Spiced cupcake
Hard Apple Cider
or maybe I got the 2 mixed up. The problem here is the cupcake was so lightly fragranced that I couldn't distinguish which one was the spiced cake and which one was the cider cake. In fact, the boy and I both couldnt figure it out-- we think that the cake in both cases were the same and that the spiced/hard cider flavor was in the icing alone.
